Although I could have easily spent a week exploring Seattle instead of a mere day, the boys had other plans for us. They picked us up at lunchtime the following day and whisked us away to the Pacific Coast.
If you recall, SVV grew up in this part of the country: Born in Portland, he moved back to his parents’ home state of California when he was just a couple years old and spent the majority of his life in the Bay Area. While he loves living in Tennessee—or so he claims to at least for the sake this Southern-born lass—he often wistfully speaks of how he misses one thing from his California life: being just a mile from the ocean. I was glad Kent and Caanan were mind readers and could tell he longed for this familiar scene and had the foresight to book a cabin on Copalis Beach for the four of us for two nights.
The drive out to the coast should have taken just over two hours but wound up being closer to four thanks to interstate traffic clustered around Seattle and Tacoma. We weren’t bothered, though: We were armed with cookies and Taylor Swift and the Wicked soundtrack and more than happy to be in each other’s company. When we arrived, I was blown away by the accommodation they had booked for us. I mean, would you check out this cabin? So dreamy!

In the days that followed, we did a whole lot of this:
Career Planning 101! These guys have their act together, and it sure is helpful spending a few days inside their heads. SVV and I left a little overwhelmed with all the directions we can take our business this coming year, but we are so grateful for their guidance and willingness to help us be the best entrepreneurs we can be.
And of course, there was a little of this, too:

OK, a lot of that actually. While we raced through season one of The Man in the High Castle (raise your hand if you’re as obsessed as we are!).
And there were long walks on the beach. Don’t tell me you wouldn’t have done the same if this was literally in your front yard.

In fact, we didn’t waste any time running out onto the coastline the second we arrived. The air was so clean, so brisk, so refreshing. I’ve never seen a beach more readymade for frolicking.
We weren’t the only quartet romping around either. There were a number of dogs who were seemingly as thrilled as we were to be in such a gorgeous setting.
We temporarily regretted not bringing Ella seeing as Iron Springs Resort is pet-friendly, but traveling with a pup in tow can be stressful at times and we wanted this trip to be as carefree as possible.

I think I have the boys’ next album cover right here. Do you agree?
Our time at Copalis Beach was the much-needed break we all four craved: good food, good conversation, great scenery, amazing friends. I can’t speak for the NVR Guys, but I’m all for making this an annual getaway!
Oh man – that cottage looks so cozy and amazing. I love the idea of an annual biz planning sessions/relaxation-athon. Although, I would need to be really dedicated to stop running on the beach and reading and to get down to business. What a beautiful place. Happy New Year!
Hey girl- I just subscribed yesterday! You look like you have a lot of fun! That place looks amazing! I have never been.
So much fun! Can’t wait to hear about your biz plans for 2016 too. The NVR guys are always a fun time, so yes, make it an annual thing… but maybe hit the beach in the summer too. Ha!
I wouldn’t be able to live too far away from the sea – not even a river would do! All the cities I’ve lived in have basically been touching the sea. It’s a great place to clear your head even on chilly winter days!
The west coast of the US (Oregon and Washington) is truly one of the most fascinating places I have ever visited (and your photos do it much justice). So different to other places I have seen, so different to the Ocean in other parts of the world. I went such a long time ago, I would love to go back!
adding The Man in the High Castle (and Copalis Beach) to my list!
Ok. That’s it. Next time, we’re coming with!
