While I’m famously not a fan of Vegas, there’s something to be said for a city that can do bright, bold and flashy light displays in a tasteful manner. Dubai is such a city.
It’s oddly reminiscent of Disney World’s Electrical Parade, wouldn’t you say?
And what better vantage point from which to observe said skyline than an aerial lounge on the 63rd floor of one of the city’s most popular hotels? (Thanks to having friends like Johnny Jet who get nobodies like you into the hottest—and highest—table in Dubai.)
We later moved down to the VIP level to watch the fountain show from an outdoor patio and fully take advantage of the balmy Arabic night.
I’m a sucker for a fountain show, and I could have watched Dubai’s go all night long.
Next time, however, I’ll pack a tripod. Little makes me cringe more than blurry photos like these, doing little justice to an otherwise magnificent scene.
Great pictures! Dubai is a beautiful city at night!
Dubai is like a fantasy city (or science fiction city, even), so over the top – but I couldn’t help but like it. Especially liked the Bur Dubai area, by the Creek. And the old Bastakiya quarter. Some great night shots here. I particularly liked the second one.
Very cool shots despite being blurry. NYC will always be my fave! 🙂
GORGEOUS! I want to go 🙂
Who’da thought Dubai looked like that??! Not me!
Although the city views, lights and fountains are fabulous I’ll take the canyon’s skyline anytime.
I looove Dubai. SO many people hate it and have terrible things to say about the place. While it is a bit tacky, I think it is such a beautiful place. Although, I might be a bit biased because we got engaged there, so it was a happy time.
The fountain kind of reminds me of the one at the Bellagio.
Beautiful photos as always… I like the blurry one too!
Beautiful, but I gotta be partial to the Vegas night skyline 🙂
I haven’t been out of the Dubai airport, but I LOVE Chicago by night.
Even your blurry photos are gorgeous.
Nice post with excellent pictures. The pictures alone would make me want to go there, because they show how much character the place has!
Holy cow! Beautiful. Add it to my list of places to see.
Burj Khalifa– tallest building in the world aye?
Must be quite a site all lit up at night!
i too love fountain shows, specially in dubai its superb but i don’t like crowd. Nice pics of burj khalifa.
why don’t you like crowd? people come to enjoy the musical fountain and the synchronization. imagine you standing alone, will be able to enjoy it? ofcoz not. Dubai is a lovely place for ALL. 🙂
Agreed! I’d love to get back to Dubai and see more of the surrounding area. Very cool city indeed!
I was due to go to Dubai next week! Plans had to change but yes, I will be looking out for views like these when I finally do go – how amazing!
