In the Beginning: How Camels & Chocolate Came to Be

[shareaholic app=”share_buttons” id=”20872686″]

I’ve tried this blog thing one too many times, and in an effort to prove to myself that I am actually not a quitter, I’m going to give it one more shot. It’s my New Year’s resolution. OK, so I know that 2007 technically started exactly six months ago and if we’re going by that timeline then I have officially failed miserably. But seeing as today is the first day of the second half of 2007, the way I see it is, it has to be a new year in some obscure country or the other. I’m probably completely spouting BS, but at the very least it’s Discovery Day in Trinidad and Tobago (no lie) and that’s something worth celebrating, right? It’s also Army’s Day in China, so raise a glass to all your Commie friends.

There really is no rhyme or reason to this blog, except for my own lucid vanity. I’ll be hitting the road quite a lot in the coming months and see this as a much easier venue to stay in touch than phone calls and e-mail.

And where did the name come from? To be quite honest, it was the first thing that popped into my head when asked to enter a domain name – and surprisingly it wasn’t taken (heh)! After a jaunt through the Sahara in 2005 I became known universally (perhaps that is slight an exaggeration, but my photos were printed all over) as that girl on the camel. And as for the chocolate part, well, I’d say that’s pretty evident.

The primary focus of this nonsense will be to enlighten you, my family and friends, on my whereabouts. As much time as I spend globetrotting and furiously scouring the net for discount airfare and my next destination, I figure the least I can do is share the fruits of my labor. And occasionally you just may get a celeb blurb or two from the red carpet or fashion tips from my days of checking products at Lucky.

So enjoy—and remember, comments and feedback are always welcomed and appreciated!

I’m addicted to your blog after only having read the intro. Guess what? I was in China for Army Day, haha! I look forward to reading the rest of your posts. Best of luck on all of your future travels darling–may they be filled with lots of camels and even more chocolate.

Loved reading how you got started blogging. I have no idea how to start or what a bog really is, but for some reason I feel the need to start one. I am not technically savvy or understand what a web hosting agent even is. I am a stay at home mom on a journey to find purpose in this God given life. So, thank you for the inspiration!

the nice thing about blogs in 2016 is you don’t have to know much at all! Pick a free Wordpress template and just start writing =)
