It seems like every week a new restaurant/bar/concept debuts in Nashville to wide acclaim. There’s so much going on here, I can barely keep up!
Since so many of you write to me frequently about planning trips to Music City for milestone birthdays/bachelorette parties/weekend getaways, I figured I’d throw you a bone and piece together an occasional round-up of new stuff I’m digging. This fall, that would be:
My friend Jesse came up with this brilliant concept for an invite-only cocktail club (with food pairings), where the 3rd of each month features a different spirit—so far, there’s been: whiskey vs. bourbon, rum, beer and shots—in varying locales. So far, it’s been a smash hit, mainly because booze is delicious and Jesse is a genius. Wednesday’s 3st is “bubbles” at City Winery. Because, the holidays. (And because, the 3st creators certainly know how to nail a theme.) If you need an invite, let me know; I have a couple to spare!
The week before Thanksgiving, I had the chance to go out on a food walking tour of East Nashville and explore the culinary scene a way I never have before. I assumed this was more of an attraction geared to out-of-towners, but I learned more about the city in three hours than I have in years! So informative, so tasty, so fun. A full review to come, but if you’re heading to Nashville soon—or even if you’re a local—do yourself a favor and BOOK. A. TOUR. (They also make great Christmas gifts!)
I went to my first ever taping of CMA Country Christmas, which airs tonight, last month, and it was a blast—far better than I was expecting and featuring a number of my favorite country artists like Carrie Underwood, Hunter Hayes, Alan Jackson, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley and many more (plus! Steven Tyler!). Bonus: Idina Menzel came out and sang a “Let It Go” duet with Jennifer Nettles! As if I thought Christmas couldn’t get any better, then that happened. If you didn’t make it to this year’s live show, I highly suggest you attend next year’s taping at Bridgestone Arena.
4) The Dunks at the Sutler
YOU GUYS. OMG. Grilled cheese swimming in a pool of raspberry tomato soup? FOODGASM. That’s all I have to say about that.
5) The Opening of Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery
It’s no big surprise that I love me some bourbon. It’s also no secret that Belle Meade Bourbon is among my favorite. So no one was happier than me—well, OK, except maybe those adorable Nelson brothers—when Nelson’s Green Brier finally debuted its 30,000-square-foot distillery in Marathon Village last week. Magic, y’all; pure magic.
