Country Dog, Vol. XII

Summertiiiiime, and the livin’ is easy. That’s my motto at least. I had hoped to stop by today and tell you that on Tuesday, I—and OK, my people—would officially be a homeowner but…that’s no longer the case. At least not so soon. Looks like I might be one of seven, instead of only pup for just a little bit longer.

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateSigh. Ho-hum.

Dad’s been on my case to blog more, but it’s pretty hard as no one around here takes me seriously and will give me a laptop or even a tablet of my own. So it would behoove you, my loyal fans—to pop on over and vote for my entry in Sorrel River Ranch’s photo contest. (I’m on page three, numbers 25 to 36, in case the link doesn’t take you directly to my submission.) It’s a picture of little ol’ me playing farmer while in Utah last year, and if I get the most likes, I win a shiny new iPad. Just think of all the blogging I could do were I to own such a device!

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateIn other news, Mom went and abandoned me again for three weeks to work on a cruise ship, and I got to live it up here in rural Tennessee with Dad, going on many long drives in his Audi, hanging out the window, howling at every cow we passed by.

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateOn the home front, my little brother Knox is now six months old (and a good two pounds heavier than me and our birth mom Katey). He’s become more tolerable…marginally. At least I play with him now and allow him the pleasure of laying by my side instead of snap at his tail every time he lunges in my direction. Baby steps.

Maltese puppy | Camels & Chocolate, Vol. XIIOther excitement around here is that my Aunt Kari, who is pretty much my favorite person in the world, is home for awhile until she moves to Charlotte in October to start her job as a CPA to see me. I’m pretty stoked to get a whole lot of QT with her in the coming months. She just finished her master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, so not only is she pretty, but she’s smart, too! Maybe some of those accounting skills will rub off on me, since Mom is useless when it comes to doing my invoicing and expense reports at the end of each month.

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateAlso of note: We have some squatters who have taken up residence in our backyard, so my outdoor access is often restricted. Instead, I like to watch them from the upstairs window and scare them off with my ferocious bark.

Bambi | Camels & ChocolateNobody invades my turf. I don’t care how cute and fuzzy and cotton-tailed you are.

Bambi | Camels & ChocolateBut once they’ve left each night, I’m allowed to go out and romp around at my leisure.

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateMy favorite activity is racing against my mom and brother. Can you guess who’s the fastest?

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateWhile I may be able to beat my mom and brother occassionally in a footrace, I will admit they excel at being cute.

Maltese puppy | Camels & ChocolateThough I try to give them a run for their money whenever I can.

Till next time,

Oh Ella, so darn cute! Your Mom takes great action photos! I was thinking you would be lonely when you moved into your new house, but I forgot you have your little brother so you’ll have company!

Little brother Knox will be staying behind at my grandmother’s house (15 minutes away). Mom and Dad toyed with the idea of keeping him for a bit, but it was pretty clear to them that I prefer the status of “only dog.”

Ella, you’ve got my vote and hope you win the ipad so you can blog more often.

Gaelyn, thank you for your never-ending support, and I’m holding out for the day when you invite me along in that luxury fifth wheel of yours. You may have heard, but I’m kind of an awesome camping dog!

      • July 17, 2012

You can travel with me anytime Ella.

Hi Ella! Nice to see they let you blog again! Wondered how you were doing. I just voted for you, hope you win : )

You’re the 2nd cutest dog! (sorry, but I have to pick my little man Scruffy 1st!)

Thank you, Brittani! And I’m fine playing runner-up to your main squeeze–particularly as his name is Scruffy.

Ohh what a lovely photos. So cute. I got a big smile on my face 🙂

      I aim to please! 😉

So many dogs! I thought that first photo was photoshopped. 🙂

Corrin, alas, I have to share this space with six others of my kin (though we all know who’s top dog around these parts). It’s kind of like a pound, only luxurious (and incestuous…we’re all related in some way). Pretty soon, though, I will have my own house nearby with a lot of space to romp around in—and most importantly, no little brothers to bug me.

So…many…fuzzy…fur balls. So…much…cute. I pretty much can’t stand it. And I love the way that they look like they’re flying when they run.

In these parts, they call me Hoverdog.

  • July 17, 2012

Ella, you do know that you’re living the dream, right? My little Mayhem can’t look at these photographs without squealing. I mean SQUEALING! Too many white “puppies” for her to handle 🙂

    • July 17, 2012
      Ella

I like the look–and sound–of this Mayhem pup. I think you need to bring her down to Tennessee to visit me–once I have a house of my own, of course, with a wraparound porch (solely for whipping up mint juleps, natch).

  • July 17, 2012

So mannnny dogs! I feel bad for the deer lol

    • July 18, 2012

Yeah, the dogs are pretty menacing, all seven pounds of each of them, ha–hence why I keep them indoors while the deer are feeding 😉

  • July 17, 2012

So, I had to give this a day to let all the cute sink in. Seriously, how do you leave for even 5 minutes?

    • July 18, 2012

I never want to leave her. Ever. One major reason we’re working on our OWN business (that accepts puppies on laps). 🙂

      • July 18, 2012

        What he said.

Ella also requests that “her” NVR Guys come visit her SOON. She even says she will have her new house all fixed up for you whenever that may be—and notes that it’s located just 10 minutes from George Dickel and 15 from Jack Daniel’s. For what it’s worth.

That picture with the lobster hat pulled my heartstrings… my first cocker spaniel, who has now passed away, wore a lobster costume like that on his last Halloween. He was my first dog and will always be my baby!

    • July 24, 2012

Dogs dressed at lobsters are the best kind! I love cocker spaniels–hopefully, you’ll get to a place sometime soon where you can adopt another one!

  • July 19, 2012

These pictures are SO great!! You can literally see the big smiles on each of the doggy’s faces when they’re running in the grass! How adorable, these made my morning! 🙂

    • July 24, 2012

They are definitely a goofy, smiley bunch–that’s for sure!

  • July 24, 2012

TOO CUTE! I love that Ella has her own avatar to comment from. Cute overload, for sure.

Love these pics so much! My wife reads no blogs, except when I tell her there is a post from Ella, she runs right in and takes over the computer!
