Pleased to Meet Ya!

Today is the official kickoff of BlissDom ’12 (yeehaw!), and as I’m a newbie to this particular conference, I thought I’d give those of you who don’t know me a brief rundown on what I’m all about.

1. I live…in Tennessee with my husband and puppy (and currently my parents and 90-year-old granddad and their six dogs, as well, while we house hunt in Nashville). We relocated from San Francisco just last year. Before that, I was in New York City and Europe for a handful of years.

2. I am…29 today!

3. I like…puppies and Taylor Swift and taking pictures and reading YA fiction and eating chocolate. Also, cupcakes, TV and running.

4. I have…operated this here blog for five years. But I’ve worked in the media as a journalist for more than double that time.

5. I get…a wee bit nervous terrified to speak in front of crowds, so be nice to me at my photography session on Saturday, will ya? Chances are I’ll be picturing you in your underwear anyway. (I hope you wore your lacy best.)

6. I loathe…Scarlett Johannson, celery, asymmetry, cucumbers and the sound of knuckles cracking.

7. I don’t…have (human) kids, like the majority of you BlissDom attendees, but I’m more than happy to look at photos of your little darlings if you want to whip out your iPhone and show me! Just don’t be surprised if I bust out pictures of my fur child Ella in return.

8. I wear…dresses, like, 90 percent of the time. I’m not particularly a formal person, it’s just my style, yo (and way more comfortable than jeans, too; trust me on that).

9. I want…to learn more about the entrepreneurial side of blogging from my inaugural BlissDom and also make some new friends from the Internetz. So please say hi if you see me—I don’t bite, I promise.

Happy birthday!!!!!!! That picture makes me miss San francisco! My sister lives in San jose but she is spending a lot of time in Tampa lately. I want her in California so that I have an excuse to go!

    • Kristin says:

San Jose is much nicer for weather–I can count on one hand the number of times I wore a dress with no tights in my four years in San Francisco! So cold there. This photo of me in a fleece hat and puffy jacket was taken in SUMMER.

      • Cata says:

Hahaha San francisco has the coldest summers !!! I can’t say un the world bc I have t been everywhere but i want to say it. It is beautiful with all the fog! I dress as if it was ready to snow! I don’t know how to dress fashionably for anything colder than 65F!! I feel like I just want to take a blanket out and cover!

  3. Lana says:

Happy birthday! Reading your responses remind me that we have much in common–even the public speaking anxiety. Good luck with your class, I’m sure you’ll do great!

    • Kristin says:

Thanks, Lana! Now that I’ve had time to take in some of the rest of the conference, I’m actually way less nervous, believe it or not!

  4. Gaelyn says:

Happy Birthday! And enjoy the Bliss. You’ll do fine speaking to the naked crowd.

  5. DebbZ says:

Happy birthday Kristin !!! All the best wishes for you :)

  6. Kavita says:

Hey, Happy Birthday Kristin. I find it hard to believe that you’re actually terrified of public speaking as you come across as totally confident – all that insight from just reading your blog of course. :-)

    • Kristin says:

I’m actually a lot less nervous about it now that I’ve sat in on several of the other presentations, but yes, I generally prefer chatting within small groups to standing up in front of large crowds!

  7. Jenn G. says:

Happy Birthday! No doubt you’ll knock ‘em dead at the session. :)

    • Kristin says:

Taking cue from this year’s lightning round of course ;-)

(Also, totally employing the “it’s my birthday!” excuse. Wonder who I learned that from.)

  8. Briel K. says:

    Happy birthday to you! :)

    Why the Scarlett hate?

    • Kristin says:

I’ve just loathed her since her early days. Actually, I think she was fine in The Horse Whisperer, but it’s only been downhill since then. Something about her just rubs me the wrong way. Jessica Biel, too. They’re no Taylors.

  9. Brandy says:

Happy Birthday! I hope you have a good one! I turned 29 this month, too. Have fun at BlissDom!

  10. Alex says:

Happy birthday! Looking forward to hearing about the conference.

  11. Lauren says:

Hope you had a great birthday!

In semi-related news, my partner is OBSESSED with the pictures you keep tweeting of Knox. She’s begged me to go down to Tennessee and bring him home. He’s such a cutie (so is Ella – love her posts too)!

    • Kristin says:

Haha, well tell her she’s going to have to fight my sister for him, as I think Kari’s adopting him (though she’s leaving Scott and me to the training…typical!). He is REALLY cute, though. And an only child in the litter, so oh-so-spoiled, too!

      • Lauren says:

Rebecca is heartbroken and muttering sadly about this turn of events. Kari may need to be sending further pics post adoption! ;)

        Lucky pup!

  12. Monster says:

    You are…freaking adorable!

    Happy birthday!

  13. You’ll knock ‘em dead! And cheers to dresses!!! PS Happy Birthday again!

  14. terra says:

    Happy Belated Birthday, lady!!
