A crested tern at Freycinet Marine Farm eyes the water…

…goes in for the kill…

…and comes up short.

But lo! He doesn’t give up.

Before I could blink twice, he lobbied for a second attempt…he shoots…he scores!

A close-up of his prize.

He sucked that bad boy down like he hadn’t eaten for weeks and, before I knew it, was soaring off to pour a glass of bubbly and toast to his achievements.

certainly one of those times where a photo — and photographer — is able to share a singular moment. fine landscape too. thanks.
You had CUPCAKES for your wedding?!? You are my new best friend.
Great capture! The moral of the story – never give up.
I absolutely adore Terns!! They are some of my favorite birds to photograph because they hover in the air as if they are posing for you and then dive and make beautiful water skimming images. I just spent sunday photographing a bunch in NYC. One of my fav photos from the arctic was of a tern, I’m sure you saw a bunch there too!
