Since Kari clearly has better things to do than stop by this blog and regale you guys with her tales (ahem, Kari, ahem), here’s the consolidated version of what her last six weeks have entailed: Visiting Pearl Harbor and Okinawa; skiing in Nagano, Japan; hiking the Great Wall in China; playing with pandas in Hong Kong; getting a wardrobe made in Vietnam; volunteering at an orphanage in Cambodia; riding an elephant in Jaipur, India; and seeing the Taj Mahal. Jealous any? I know I’m green with envy. Here are a few notes she’s sent SVV and me from the road:

Of course, selfishly as usual, you know I’m just hoping this means I have a new globetrotting buddy with whom to explore the world when SVV’s not available to join me.

My little sister Kari is currently en route from Cochin, India to Mauritius on her four-month round-the-world trip via UVA’s Semester at Sea program.

Unfreakingbelievable…a journey she’ll NEVER forget! Btw, you know you always have a globe-trotting partner in me!
Wow, it sounds like she’s having some great experiences! What a wonderful opportunity! Looking forward to hearing more about her trip!
What an amazing experience for her! She’s just like you.
Your sis is in my region of the world! excellent!
Sounds amazing! I really wish I had done a Semester-At-Sea while in college.
This is amazing. What a way to do college! I hope Kari will write more posts when she’s back from her big trip. I haven’t heard much about Semester at Sea and would love to read more. What an interesting adventure your sister is having!
So great! Thanks for sharing these glimpses of her adventure. I’m so happy that she took the plunge and is having a fabulous time. You’re a great sis!
Lucky girl. What a great experience.
I think the Sakkat is more popular as in Vietnam’s signature. Especially in movies, they highlight it as their identity.
I really hope you can go to Ha Long Bay even for a day. Airplane it through Vietnam Airlines. It’s such a hidden beauty, you’ll love it ;P Glad your Sister is having a blast!
Can’t say this enough, but I am so glad she went!
I hope my daughters will have a chance to do this semester at sea in the future! I better start saving up, unless there is a deferred payment plan! Hahaha…!!!
